My wishes when my soul departs this world:

25th January 2020

(i) I give full authorisation to the rightful authority to utilise any parts of my body that may save another life, either by way of organ transplantation or by contributing to science.

(ii) No precious water should be wasted to wash the remains of my body that is to be buried, nor any trees cut down to make a casket, no new clothing should be bought, any old clothe I own will suffice.

(iii) My body should not occupy the burial ground indefinitely, as I would like to be buried in a natural burial site, where the space I have occupied does not exclude the natural world.

(iv) No religious/clerical figures need not be invited to oversee my burial; a simple prayer and farewell by close relatives and loved ones as a private affair will suffice.

(v) The burial affair should be very simple with minimal expense, instead focusing more on the quality of the psychological closure for my family that I leave behind.

(vi) Upon death my body will no longer possess the sensory experiences, and since we have technology to delay the body from decomposing, there will be no need of urgency to bury my remains hastily. Instead, take enough time required for all my dear and near ones to be able to give their last farewells.

(vii) I fought my living life opposing all forms of sectarianism, and I wish this to continue and reflect in my death also; so a separated cemetery by religious affiliation should not be pursued. I therefore request my family and relatives to bury me without any sectarian affiliation, in symbols, words or any other form.

(viii) If any epitaph is to be written on my headstone, then I would prefer that there be no exultant eulogy, but rather a simple declaration thus; ‘herein lies one of the many sons of Adam’, or something to this effect.
